Brock Endean

Raised in the Village of Chase (unceded Secwepemc territory) Brock Endean is an accomplished young leader, speaker, and facilitator dedicated to strengthening the capacity of rural and Indigenous communities throughout Canada and internationally. Through professional and volunteer initiatives, Brock works with governments, First Nations, and non-profit organizations on projects ranging from values based strategic planning, youth empowerment workshops, and social enterprise development for underrepresented populations. He believes that the best results are achieved by capturing the values, ideas, and creativity of a community, then collaboratively identifying the resources needed to move forward. His diversity of education and training includes studies in business, tourism management, sustainable agriculture, creative facilitation, and public engagement, all which complement his work in building communities where members feel connected and their dreams can thrive.

Critical Thinking Questions

  • Do you agree? Does age or location or lot in life impact your ability to advance a new idea?
  • Are we doing a good enough job, as a society, to champion good ideas from rural communities? If not, how can we do better?
  • If it begins with relationships, how can we take that first step, especially into the unknown – a person, a community, a perspective that we don’t know?
  • Is there a blueprint to be found in Brock’s work with the Fraser Basin Council and beyond that might inform new strategies to solve similar challenges in other parts of Canada and the world?
