Part One
- As a class, work together to find the organizations in your community that assist with mental health.
- Highlight the organizations you have heard of before and discuss what you know.
- Do some further research on the organizations you didn’t know about before.
Part Two
- Have your teacher take you outside for a walk in nature, practice meditating or do some self-reflection. Each activity will give you the chance to check-in with yourself.
- At the end of each day, make sure you have completed as many of the following activities as possible from the infographic on the right.
Part Three
Create a safe space in your classroom and have a discussion about the importance of mental health.
Guiding Questions:
- What is mental health? Why is it important?
- What is the difference between mental health and physical health? Can they be related?
- Do you know of any celebrities or prominent community members that have discussed their mental health challenges? How are they dealing with it? What can you learn from their example?
- How can your friends help you with mental health issues? When should they contact a professional on your behalf?
- What is a stigma? How do we get rid of stigmas?
- How have attitudes changed in society about mental health in recent years? What do you think the future will look like when it comes to mental health?
