It’s time to take your rapid prototype and see if others like your idea.
Create a simple display station (a bullet point outline or a mind map-sketch of your thinking process) that will allow your peers to quickly understand your concept. It should highlight your better question, your goal, the main steps you plan to take to develop your idea and a short overview of your thinking (why you’re doing what you’re doing, how you think this will answer the question, what success looks like to you).
As a class, you will go around to each station, view the concept and offer feedback. Is the idea well-thought-out? Is it realistic? Is there a good plan in place to develop the concept? What’s missing?
To deliver feedback, use Post-it notes to add comments to each display.
Ideas for feedback:
- Ask a clarifying question.
- Inject realism into the idea by pointing out aspects that might be good in theory, but harder to achieve in practice.
- Highlight what you like best (and possibly suggest that the attribute be scaled or replicated, if appropriate).
- Don’t simply criticize an idea; offer a better alternative.
- Suggest experts that should be consulted.
- Share ideas, resources and tools that you’re using that might help someone else.
- If you haven’t already, suggest collaboration opportunities by pointing out similarities with other boards.
- Offer a word of encouragement!
