  • How can cultural knowledge help improve our understanding of societal norms, values and conflicts in our world today?
  • Should we have more empathy for different contexts and perspectives?
  • Can you give an example of a misunderstanding that's occurred due to lack of context?
  • In what ways does cultural context influence how we interpret information, such as literature, art or news?
  • How does knowing the context of a story (such as the time period, creator's background or cultural influences) enhance your understanding of the themes and messages?
  • How does understanding the social and economic context of a community or region impact decision-making and problem-solving?
  • Reflect on a time when hearing a different context made you rethink a situation or perspective.
  • Reflect on a situation where you felt your viewpoint was not heard. How did it make you feel?
  • How does listening to diverse perspectives contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues or current events?

Reflection Activity

  • Option One: Create an artist statement on the lesson's story to describe what the message was.
  • Option Two: Write a self reflection on the story. Did you enjoy it? Agree with it? Not agree? How did it make you feel and think?
  • Option Three: Design a poster that celebrates the most interesting fact you learned in this story.
  • Option Four: Find three websites or articles that relate to themes presented in this story. Explain why you selected them.
